Adopt From Foster FAQs

What does it mean when a pet has the "Adopt From Foster" banner on their profile?

It means that the pet is lucky enough to spend their time in a foster home until they find a family to call their very own! They can be adopted right from their foster home versus having to be here at the shelter.

Where is this pet actually located?

They are in a loving foster home! All pets who have the "Adopt From Foster" banner will need an appointment in order to meet them. Sometimes, pets are met right in their foster home and other times, they are brought back to the shelter for a meet and greet - each situation may be a little different, but you and that pet's point person will work out those details!

How do I meet them/what is the adoption process?

The first step is to fill out the form that will pop up once you click the "Ask About Meeting Me button". From there, one of our staff members will reach out to you with more information about the pet and how to meet them.

Are you interested in helping a pet stay out of the shelter while they wait for an adopter?

We love to hear that! Become a foster volunteer at lollypop.org/foster. You will receive emails letting you know who is eligible for our "Adopt From Foster" program!

Meet a very, very special dog: our sweet Sophie. Sophie came to us after being abandoned in a park with a fractured paw, fresh off of having puppies: injured, exhausted, and still finding her way. What she found instead was love: from our humane law enforcement team, our animal care staff, communications department, and every person who crossed her path. Today, she’s healed(ish), adored, and ready to meet her new family. Sophie currently gets 20 minute walks 3x/day, and walks pretty well on her injured paw. It continues to heal well, but our veterinary team will monitor her for a bit longer post-adopt/foster to make sure all is well and continues to be well. More about that below! Sophie is house-trained, gentle, and extremely affectionate. We believe she has potential to do well in a home with children as well. She is a couch potato, though she does enjoy her little walks and sniffing around in the grass. Sophie loves people, snacks, and has finally learned to play with toys…but snuggles and naps are most important to her. She is a bit of a bed hog according to her foster mom! The catch? Other than being a little broken in the paw department? She really does not jive with other animals. But not to fear, she’ll fill your home with enough love for all of them combined! She’s available now through our Adoption Sleepover program as she continues her veterinary care (we want to be sure that her paw heals okay before finalizing the adoption). This is a foster-to-adopt agreement, and Lollypop Farm covers all vet expenses during this time. Sophie’s waiting for the part of her story that’s still unwritten: a home of her own. Please email Sophie’s foster mom at nratliff@lollypop.org with inquiries, or you can call the main adoption line at (585) 223-1330 x262.
